Collaboration: Kaza
Kaza specialise in concrete tiles; from research to design and manufacture. They invited Erica Wakerly to collaborate, resulting in her innovative collection of FORM wall tiles.
‘Form’ comprises seven different tiles, ranging from flat, minimal to more 3D shapes.
They have been used in wide ranging projects, from the PGA headquarters (USA), Corcel (Dubai), ExCel centre (London), to smaller scale residential interiors.
The seven designs are a modular system, so can be installed in endless combinations, allowing for a flowing pattern, a more irregular 3D mural, or they can be repeated individually.
This allows for a fully creative and and unique outcome for different spaces.
The designs nod toward brutalism , but the compositions can be customised to be balanced, or more playful.
Erica's wallpaper designs frequently explore a sense of dimension:
Screwed Up looks like scrunched up foil, but it's a three colour flat print. Other metallics provide a sense of depth, as the foil layer reflects light and shadow.
The Modern Flock Collection embraces an actual raised surface - the pattern appears through shadow with the white flocked papers Buzz and Scoop.
Collaborating with Kaza has allowed the dimensional aspects of Erica's designs to be realised through the actual physical 3D form of the architectural tiles.
The tiles are used in wide-ranging high end commercial and residential applications and are now available in 24 different colours - adding to the possibilities for a completely individual installation.
